Jefferson Elementary School was the first school in the Natomas Unified School District that implemented the principles of a Unified Building Management System (UBMS). Managing all lighting, plug load, and temperature control from a single server platform brought a level of operational efficiencies the district did not know existed. A secondary effect of the unified control system is a comfortable, healthy learning environment that promotes academic focus. The school is now a model of achievement because of the architectural and design team’s collaboration on best practice energy management with post-construction maintenance and operation at the forefront.
