In 2016, the University of the Pacific (UOP) conducted interactive workshops on how to transform their Library into a modern resource for their students and faculty. They determined that they could better deliver academic library services, enhance student Learning Spaces, facilitate student academic success, and improve faculty development services. In order to accomplish their goals, UOP and Paul Halajian Architects, with their design team, remodeled the existing Library to include new learning labs, study rooms, collaborative spaces, café, study pods, and general-purpose computers. In the remodel, the existing pneumatic zone controls were eliminated and replaced with a state of the Alerton control system. The project will be renovated in three phases and the last phase will be completed in mid-2020.
